This shirt is constructed from two early 20th-century handwoven linen bed linens, sourced from L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue in southern France. Both textiles are made from flax fibers and reflect the regional craftsmanship once common in domestic settings. One fabric is a classic ivory, while the other has been dyed a deep navy blue—possibly later in its life—creating a contrast that subtly echoes the French flag. Like many linens of the time, the materials were woven on narrow looms and show fine irregularities characteristic of hand-spun and hand-loomed cloth.

The shirt’s composition brings together two lives once lived in quiet utility, repurposing them into a single, cohesive garment. While no embroidery or initials are present, the materials themselves speak to an era of care, resourcefulness, and tactile tradition. This piece embodies the spirit of historical layering—function, beauty, and cultural memory stitched into every seam.

Crafted with pride, worn with intention.
