Manikata
Manikata
As my time in Europe dwindled, I sought one more little adventure to somewhere random, somewhere I could go where they would be receptive to having me. Through a bit of research and dumb luck, I stumbled across the tiny country of Malta, an island south of Italy influenced by different cultures that have been on the island since its first inhabitants arrived almost 8000 years ago.
While the majority of the island consists of rocky outlets and jagged beaches, there a few pristine sandy havens dotted around this island of only 500,000 people. Upon arrival on Manikata, we made our way from the small town down to the water, quite unaware of what we were soon to find. Once over a small hill, Golden Bay beach glistened into view dotted with people taking in every second of sunshine Malta had to offer.
Quite unprepared for this sandy surpise, I strolled past a line of vendors in search of a towel. The one I found depicted a map of Malta and its most prominent landmarks. While the sand was a bother, I put the towel away in hopes I could find a better use for it later on.
